Tips to keep your toilets like the first day

The toilets are subjected to many attacks. Therefore, with time and use, it is easy for them to lose their shine and make them look aged and even dirty, even if they have just been cleaned.

Keeping them as new is not complicated, but for this you need to take care of them daily and dedicate a little time to them. If you want your bathroom fixtures to be impeccable for years, pay attention to these tips.

1. Daily cleaning

It is the most basic and not only for a matter of hygiene, which is important. If we do not clean the toilets frequently, the remains of soap, and especially lime, will accumulate. The result is not only a loss of shine, but on many occasions the appearance of unsightly stains. Stains that will be increasingly difficult to remove.

2. Do not use abrasive products

There are countless cleaning products. But you must choose well and, when in doubt, try in a place that is not visible. Some chemicals can damage the surface layer of toilets, keep that in mind. Nor should you let them act for longer than necessary. It is advisable to always read the labels of all cleaning products very well and follow the instructions for use to the letter.

3. Avoid aggressive utensils

A hard-to-remove lime stain may have come out, but using a scouring pad to try and remove it is not a good idea. And not just scouring pads, you should forget about brushes with very hard bristles or any sharp object. It is better to try a little more by scrubbing with a soft cloth, you will avoid scratching the surface of the toilets.

In other words, to clean, better cloths, microfiber or cotton cloths and sponges. And to dry, the kitchen paper is great and will leave the toilets as bright as the first day.

4. How to clean difficult corners?

There are always places where dirt accumulates very easily and where cleaning is a bit more complicated. For those joints that a cloth cannot reach or for the most hidden part of the toilet, it is best to use a toothbrush or a soft brush. With a little care, you will get everywhere and, most importantly, without damaging the surface of the toilets.

5. Use natural remedies

We mentioned commercial cleaning products. But if there are tricks that never fail, they are those of our grandmothers. And what did they use to clean and disinfect the toilets? Products that they had (and you surely also have) in your kitchen. We are talking about vinegar, lemon, and baking soda.

Together or separately, they are perfect to restore shine to toilets, to remove limescale and soap residue, to restore their original white color and to disinfect them. If it is about dirt or stubborn stains, you can use the vinegar hot (not too much) and let it act for a few minutes. It is infallible.

6. Be careful what you put on top

We do not refer, above all, to sinks and countertops. On them we leave soap dishes, brush holders, personal hygiene utensils, creams and lotions ... Take care that the lower part of these objects do not have any edge that could damage the surface of the toilet when placing them in it or when moving them.

And if any product is spilled, especially makeup, immediately clean the surface. As you can see, with a little time, some essential precautions and following popular wisdom, you can keep your bathroom toilets so clean and shiny that they will look like new..
