“Mediterranean design possesses you, it attracts you”

Jorge Herrera (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) is an industrial designer and creator in 2008 of Jorge Herrera Studio, based in Valencia and internationally awarded. Having worked for firms such as Alfa Romeo, Arkoslight and Donaliving, the designer moves in a multidisciplinary sphere that allows him to tackle all phases of the creative process. A firm advocate of detail, of products that evoke sensations and of intelligent, precise, simple and practical solutions, he conceives design as "a tool to make the complex easy".

Jorge Herrera at Sanycces has launched the Calma and Tempo bathtub collections, both of which have won a Red Dot Design Award, as well as the Tempo freestanding washbasin. Both collections are a clear reflection of Herrera's style, sober and elegant, but with their own personality. In these projects we have been able to explore with the designer what Mediterranean design means and also how the new bathroom rituals and how they connect with the traditional ways of understanding these spaces.

In our Mediterranean Talk, we talk to Jorge about how the Mediterranean has influenced his work and what are the keys to understand what a Mediterranean design is.
